About Us

Our Mission

At West End Baptist Church, our mission statement is to "glorify God by winning the lost and discipling the save...beginning here and extending around the world." This mission is two-fold. Our desire is to see all people come to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We are determined to reach the West End of Richmond with the gospel in a clear and understandable way.

But sharing the saving power of the gospel with people is just the first step in our responsibility as a church. We are commanded to go beyond simply leading others to Christ, but also to provide discipleship for those who are saved, as well. At West End Baptist Church, we clearly teach the scriptures as the authority for all people.

This mission begins here in the West End of Richmond. We must reach our neighbors with the love of Christ. God has placed us in this exact geographical location to carry out His mission here. We are to be witnesses first in our community. It makes logical sense to witness where you spend most of your time. In Acts 1:8, we are commanded to "...be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." This commandment is clear that our witness should start in our surrounding community, but also as a church, spread to have a global impact for the kingdom of God.

West End Baptist Church is a body of Christ that exist in order to...

  • Reach a hurting, lost, and dying world with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Disciple by teaching and preaching the Bible as the inerrant and infallible truth, with relevant application, so as to equip believers for ministry
  • Pray fervently in order to seek God's perfect will and avail much for the kingdom of heaven
  • Worship God in spirit and truth so as to bring glory, honor, and praise to Him
  • Minister to the needs of our community, nation, and world with active and intentional service
  • Fellowship in genuine relationships by building the body in unity through intimacy and accountability

This vision is targeted in our mission as a church. We are working at reaching people with the great free gift of salvation and will continue to see believers discipled into a deeper relationship with our Lord Jesus (Proverbs 29:18).
