The story of West End Baptist Church begins with the Lord and His desire to see His Kingdom grow and the Church expand throughout all the world. In God’s love for people, He sanctioned the church. God laid the call on a young pastor's life to begin a new work of planting a church in the West End of Richmond with the vision of reaching an people with the gospel of Jesus and growing those people into a church family that is loving, strong, passionate, and committed to the Lord and His ways. A partnership with First Baptist Suffolk, the NAMB, the SBCV, and Englewood Baptist Church (Rocky Mount, NC) all united in a mission of planting a church in the West End of Richmond VA.

In August of 2001 this pastor and his family moved to the West End of Richmond. The work immediately began with going to the community with the intention of 1) winning the lost, and 2) drawing in Christians to be discipled. The church planter could often be found in front of local businesses meeting people, doing home surveys, and sharing the good news with anyone who would listen.  From these divine interactions with the community a home Bible Study began in the pastor's home. On November 18, 2001 West End Baptist Church held its first worship service. The first service had about 35 people.

After a few moves in meeting location for Sunday Worship and mid-week activities, WEBC has formed into a loving community of believers who love God and love people.  In February of 2005, the church moved forward in leadership as they constituted as a church and transitioned from a church plant into an elder-led church. The first elders were called by God and ordained as elders with the affirmation of the church. In 2005 WEBC also sent out their first missionaries to the Middle East.

After meeting in an office, a hotel, and an elementary school, God opened the doors in 2011 for WEBC to finally occupy its own leased building space in Parham Forest Associates at 2844 East Parham Road. The members contributed their own time and effort towards the preparation of what was once warehouse and offices to a place of worship, learning, and ministry.

2012 would be another year of transition as the church commissioned its founding pastor and his family to follow God's leading to take the good news of Christ to the unreached people of Central Asia. On the recommendation of the elders, Kevin Rogers was affirmed by the body as the church's next pastor for the years ahead.

Today WEBC is truly seeking to be the family of God that glorifies God in all we do. We are passionate about being in love with Jesus and loving others as our God and King loves all people. God is blessing WEBC with future plans for property and He is growing His church. We look forward with anticipation to the great things God is doing, and will do, in the Life of West End Baptist Church. All praise be to our King and Lord Jesus for the great things He has done!
