Weekly Update - August 22 , 2021

This will be our last Sunday at our current location. Please stay tuned for our new location update

| 8.22.21 |

This Sunday, Rayshawn will be picking up in our Gospel Culture series, with “A Culture of Honesty” . This week’s passage will be 1 John 1:5-10 . Last week’s sermon can be heard here. If you’re planning to watch online check us out this week on Facebook Live Sunday morning at 10:30am

We want to encourage you to take a moment this week as you prepare for our time together on Sunday by reading and praying through the passages.

Consider thinking through these four questions as you read and pray.

  1. How can I adore God from this passage?

  2. What sin does this passage lead me to confess?

  3. How does this passage help me to thank Jesus?

  4. From this passage, in what ways can I ask God's Spirit to help me this week?

As COVID numbers continue to increase in our area, the elders are continuing to monitor the updates by the CDC and our Governor concerning precautions for our gatherings. At this time, our services will continue to be mask-optional. We will continue to provide updates if things change going forward.

We do ask that if you or anyone in your household has recently been ill or is currently experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay at home. By doing this, you will be loving others well and protecting the most vulnerable among us.

  • Please be mindful of the comfort levels of others during our gatherings.

  • Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes will be stationed throughout the building

Help Us Pack!

On Sunday at 4pm, we will get together at the building to breakdown and pack up our items for this week’s move. If you’re available, please stop by. We could totally use the extra hands!

Lunch and Childcare will be provided. Please RSVP to let us know if you're attending.

Weekly Resources

Here are some resources that our elders recommend checking out this week. Please feel free to use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

What Is Gospel Culture? Ray Ortlund and Sam Allberry address the idea of gospel culture—the way gospel doctrine creates an orthodox community that is equally as important.

The Gospel According to Ecclesiastes The entire book confronts the tendency God’s image bearers have to want to be God rather than trust God. Ecclesiastes teaches us that we can only come to God on the basis of who He is and not on the basis of who we are. Often, we think we can have it all, know it all, experience it all, achieve it all, be happy in it all, have all of the answers for all, never wonder why things happen, and make a name for ourselves that will be remembered forever. Only God can be and do all of that, we are not Him, and that fact is a glorious reality.

How Afghan Pastors Reflect on God's Sovereignty n early July, Afghan pastors and church leaders made a difficult decision. They decided to formally register their faith with the Afghan government. What an absurdity to register as Christians in an Islamic republic that prohibits a person from converting to Christianity! Against the advice of many, these Afghan church leaders felt compelled, for the sake of future generations, to legally declare their true faith in Christ.
