This Sunday, Rayshawn Graves will continue in our series in John’s Gospel. This week’s passage will be John 19:31-42 . Last week’s sermon can be heard here. If you’re planning to watch online check us out this week on Facebook Live Sunday morning at 10:30am
We want to encourage you to take a moment this week as you prepare for our time together on Sunday by reading and praying through the passages.
Consider thinking through these four questions as you read and pray.
How can I adore God from this passage?
What sin does this passage lead me to confess?
How does this passage help me to thank Jesus?
From this passage, in what ways can I ask God's Spirit to help me this week?
The elders are continuing to monitor the updates by the CDC and our Governor concerning precautions for our gatherings. At this time, our services will continue to be mask-optional. We will continue to provide updates if things change going forward.
We do ask that if you or anyone in your household has recently been ill or is currently experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay at home. By doing this, you will be loving others well and protecting the most vulnerable among us.
Please be mindful of the comfort levels of others during our gatherings.
Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes will be stationed throughout the building
Got Prayer?
If there's something you'd like for our leaders and our church to be praying with you about, fill out the prayer request form.
Evidences of God’s Grace
The elders would love to hear about and celebrate the ways that God’s grace is working in your life or how you’ve witnessed God’s grace in the life of other members of WEBC. Let us know here.
Weekly Resources
Here are some resources that our elders recommend checking out this week. Please feel free to use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.
Time Is Short, Be Patient James tells us, judgment is certain. The last day is not a flexible deadline—open to requests for an extension. The day is “coming” even now.And it will not be impersonal—it won’t be like filing your taxes or scheduling an automated system reboot. At the end of days, the Judge himself will appear. The Lord—who is today “standing at the door”—will personally come to pass sentence on everyone who has ever lived.
What If God Doesn't Answer? The point Jesus seems to be making here is that we are not to ask once and expect that we will receive what we ask for or to seek once and expect that we will find it or to knock once and expect that the door will always be opened to us. We are to ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, and knock and keep on knocking. The present tense tells us that we may not receive what we ask for immediately but that it may take months or even years of ongoing asking, seeking, and knocking.
Growing In Godliness One Step At A Time I would love it if transformation happened at the pace of a landslide, but it’s often more gradual. Although God can transform someone drastically and quickly, his normal course is slow and steady. His pace for growing in godliness is like walking up a mountain rather than downhill skiing.
