Weekly Update - November 21, 2021

Our New Location

West End Manor Civic Association | 8600 Lakefront Dr. Richmond, VA 23294

| 11.21.21 |

This Sunday, Rayshawn Graves will continue in our series in John’s Gospel. This week’s passage will be John 20:19-29 . Last week’s sermon can be heard here. If you’re planning to watch online check us out this week on Facebook Live Sunday morning at 10:30am

We want to encourage you to take a moment this week as you prepare for our time together on Sunday by reading and praying through the passages.

Consider thinking through these four questions as you read and pray.

  1. How can I adore God from this passage?

  2. What sin does this passage lead me to confess?

  3. How does this passage help me to thank Jesus?

  4. From this passage, in what ways can I ask God's Spirit to help me this week?

The elders are continuing to monitor the updates by the CDC and our Governor concerning precautions for our gatherings. At this time, our services will continue to be mask-optional. We will continue to provide updates if things change going forward.

We do ask that if you or anyone in your household has recently been ill or is currently experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay at home. By doing this, you will be loving others well and protecting the most vulnerable among us.

  • Please be mindful of the comfort levels of others during our gatherings.

  • Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes will be stationed throughout the building

Weekly Resources

Here are some resources that our elders recommend checking out this week. Please feel free to use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

Belonging To God In An Inhuman World Everyone is on their own private journey of self-discovery and self-expression so that at times, modern life feels like billions of people in the same room shouting their name so that everyone else knows they exist and who they are—which is a fairly accurate description of social media.

Thanksgiving In Everything, Not For Everything The Bible is not calling us to stoic indifference to all that comes our way. To the contrary, those who love as a reflection of Christ will love more deeply, not less. We will know and experience hurt, disappointment, confusion, and failure, but through it all, we can and must rightly give thanks in all of it.

Until You Pray Jesus died to give me access like this to the Father (see Heb. 10:19-22). Still, it feels hard at times. There’s a lot about prayer that involves faith and not sight. There’s a lot of trust bound up in sitting alone with the Lord and voicing all our concerns, fears, sins, praises, worries, tears, and hopes—and then leaving it with him. And that’s after you get through the mental gymnastics of quieting the to-do list, the dinner plans, and the random rabbit-trailing that often occurs when we sit to pray.
