Weekly Update - January 16, 2022

Our New Location

West End Manor Civic Association | 8600 Lakefront Dr. Richmond, VA 23294

This Sunday, Rayshawn Graves will continue in our series titled “Gentle & Lowly”. This week’s passage will be Matthew 11:28-30 . Last week’s sermon can be heard here. If you’re planning to watch online check us out this week on Facebook Live Sunday morning at 10:30am

We want to encourage you to take a moment this week as you prepare for our time together on Sunday by reading and praying through the passages.

Consider thinking through these four questions as you read and pray.

  1. How can I adore God from this passage?

  2. What sin does this passage lead me to confess?

  3. How does this passage help me to thank Jesus?

  4. From this passage, in what ways can I ask God's Spirit to help me this week?

The elders are continuing to monitor the updates by the CDC and our Governor concerning precautions for our gatherings. At this time, our services will continue to be mask-optional. We will continue to provide updates if things change going forward.

We do ask that if you or anyone in your household has recently been ill or is currently experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay at home. By doing this, you will be loving others well and protecting the most vulnerable among us.

  • Please be mindful of the comfort levels of others during our gatherings.

  • Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes will be stationed throughout the building

Weekly Resources

Here are some resources that our elders recommend checking out this week. Please feel free to use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

Embrace The Cruciform Life We experience relief when we remember our identity in Christ: we are seated with him not as a result of works done by us but because of his work on our behalf. Indeed, knowing we are fully seen and known by God, and yet fully loved and chosen by him, can be sufficient to draw us out of our despair.

NTaking The Gospel To The World's Hard Places My knees are raw from stumbling on the way to Jesus, but God created and called the church to offer me a hand and a Band-Aid. The words of a brother or sister have the strength to help us back up. We must be honest about the dusty sunsets, thick air, and hard hearts of the world, yet we must also be honest about the Spirit’s ability and the gospel’s power.

The Grace of Warning But what a gift of God’s grace to be alerted to what is coming, whether it's a tornado, a flood, or God’s final judgement. Just as a loving parent warns their child not to touch the stove because they could be severely injured, so does our heavenly father warn His children of the consequences of sinful rebellion and disobedience. The minor prophet Amos is a wonderful case in point.
