This Sunday, Jason Thomas will be continuing our series in The Gospel of John . This week’s passage will be John 19:17-30 Last week’s sermon can be heard here. If you’re planning to watch online check us out this week on Facebook Live Sunday morning at 10:30am
We want to encourage you to take a moment this week as you prepare for our time together on Sunday by reading and praying through the passages.
Consider thinking through these four questions as you read and pray.
How can I adore God from this passage?
What sin does this passage lead me to confess?
How does this passage help me to thank Jesus?
From this passage, in what ways can I ask God's Spirit to help me this week?
The elders are continuing to monitor the updates by the CDC and our Governor concerning precautions for our gatherings. At this time, our services will continue to be mask-optional. We will continue to provide updates if things change going forward.
We do ask that if you or anyone in your household has recently been ill or is currently experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay at home. By doing this, you will be loving others well and protecting the most vulnerable among us.
Please be mindful of the comfort levels of others during our gatherings.
Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes will be stationed throughout the building
Got Prayer?
If there's something you'd like for our leaders and our church to be praying with you about, fill out the prayer request form.
Evidences of God’s Grace
The elders would love to hear about and celebrate the ways that God’s grace is working in your life or how you’ve witnessed God’s grace in the life of other members of WEBC. Let us know here.
Weekly Resources
Here are some resources that our elders recommend checking out this week. Please feel free to use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.
God's People Are A Waiting People Hope assumes waiting, and we’re not great at that practice. Pastor John Onwuchekwa focuses on one truth to empower and equip his listeners: God’s people will constantly be waiting, but we must not worry while we do.
The Depressing Dead End of Your Truth “Your truth” also puts an incredible, self-justifying burden on the individual. If we are all self-made projects whose destinies are wholly ours to discover and implement, life becomes a rat race of performative individuality. “Live your truth” autonomy is thus as exhausting as it is incoherent.
Sing When Your Losing True godly joy and true godly sorrow are always experienced together to some extent. Joy with no place for sorrow, and sorrow with no place for joy, are not from Jesus. We can choose joy without eclipsing our sorrow. Sing the gospel, sing victory won and hold out to the Lord your litany of loss and in your singing pray with Habakkuk, “How Long O Lord?”
