This Sunday, Rayshawn Graves will continue our Advent series titled “He Shall Be Called”. This week’s passage will be Isaiah 9: 1-7 . Last week’s sermon can be heard here. If you’re planning to watch online check us out this week on Facebook Live Sunday morning at 10:30am
We want to encourage you to take a moment this week as you prepare for our time together on Sunday by reading and praying through the passages.
Consider thinking through these four questions as you read and pray.
How can I adore God from this passage?
What sin does this passage lead me to confess?
How does this passage help me to thank Jesus?
From this passage, in what ways can I ask God's Spirit to help me this week?
The elders are continuing to monitor the updates by the CDC and our Governor concerning precautions for our gatherings. At this time, our services will continue to be mask-optional. We will continue to provide updates if things change going forward.
We do ask that if you or anyone in your household has recently been ill or is currently experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay at home. By doing this, you will be loving others well and protecting the most vulnerable among us.
Please be mindful of the comfort levels of others during our gatherings.
Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes will be stationed throughout the building
Got Prayer?
If there's something you'd like for our leaders and our church to be praying with you about, fill out the prayer request form.
Evidences of God’s Grace
The elders would love to hear about and celebrate the ways that God’s grace is working in your life or how you’ve witnessed God’s grace in the life of other members of WEBC. Let us know here.
Weekly Resources
Here are some resources that our elders recommend checking out this week. Please feel free to use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.
Joy To The (Grieving) World If you’re grieving this holiday season, Christmas carols recall these sorrows and invite you into the universal experience of grief. In the companionship of their lyrics, we find acknowledgment of the world’s brokenness, a pain we know intimately. In “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” we “mourn in lonely exile,” awaiting the redemption of all things.
In The Fog, There Are Tidings of Comfort and Joy “The Christmas message is that there is hope for a ruined humanity–hope of pardon, hope of peace with God, hope of glory–because at the Father’s will Jesus Christ became poor and was born in a stable so that thirty years later he might hang on a cross. It is the most wonderful message the world has ever heard or will hear.”
The Lost Art of Humility How is it we can get out of our own way? Ultimately that only happens as we come to know the One who is truly humble—Jesus Christ. We need him to save us from ourselves, and when that happens he starts to work a deep humility in us, from the inside out.
