Weekly Update - December 31, 2021

Our New Location

West End Manor Civic Association | 8600 Lakefront Dr. Richmond, VA 23294

| 12.31.21 |

This Sunday, Rayshawn Graves will begin a new series titled “Gentle & Lowly”. This week’s passage will be Exodus 34:6-7 . Last week’s sermon can be heard here. If you’re planning to watch online check us out this week on Facebook Live Sunday morning at 10:30am

We want to encourage you to take a moment this week as you prepare for our time together on Sunday by reading and praying through the passages.

Consider thinking through these four questions as you read and pray.

  1. How can I adore God from this passage?

  2. What sin does this passage lead me to confess?

  3. How does this passage help me to thank Jesus?

  4. From this passage, in what ways can I ask God's Spirit to help me this week?

The elders are continuing to monitor the updates by the CDC and our Governor concerning precautions for our gatherings. At this time, our services will continue to be mask-optional. We will continue to provide updates if things change going forward.

We do ask that if you or anyone in your household has recently been ill or is currently experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay at home. By doing this, you will be loving others well and protecting the most vulnerable among us.

  • Please be mindful of the comfort levels of others during our gatherings.

  • Hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes will be stationed throughout the building

Weekly Resources

Here are some resources that our elders recommend checking out this week. Please feel free to use them as discipleship opportunities to discuss with one another.

Building Spiritual Habits In Just a Few Minutes Who has time to read a chapter in the Bible? Write in a prayer journal? Memorize a verse? My friend, we do. If you need proof, grab your phone and measure for yourself. Or if you don’t have time for that, Megan Hill and I have been busy with our stopwatches. While we were at it, we found it helpful to pair one of these spiritual habits with a daily task that takes the same time.

The Neglected Ministry of Specific Encouragement The next time you encourage someone, ask yourself, Was my encouragement specific? Or was it something that could be found on any motivational billboard? As a general rule, the more specific a word of encouragement is, the more powerful it will be.

In The Darkest Night: Draw Near, Hold Fast, Consider Others Why does one person draw near to another? To see the person more clearly, to be identified with them, to give or take something, to share warmth, to hear them better. Shivering in that big, empty room where I was so alone, I had all those reasons to draw near. I sensed that he was nearer than my troubles were.
